Cannot see image file on CD disc
Situation:
You want to restore an image file from a CD-ROM or do an integrity check of the image files on the CD-ROM. When you run Ghost and select the CD-ROM drive in the “Look in” box at the drive selection window (that is, at the “File name to load image from” window), no files are listed for the drive.
Solution:
Because this situation has a variety of causes, no one solution will work in every case. To resolve the problem, try each of the following solutions.
Use the -FNI switch
Ghost might have trouble correctly accessing the drive. To resolve this problem, run Ghost with the -FNI switch:
ghost.exe -fni
This switch forces Ghost to use a different method for accessing the drive. If using the -FNI switch resolves the problem, then upgrading to Symantec Ghost 7.0 or later might also resolve the problem.
Ghost does not always see all .GHO files on the CDR/RW drive when the “Files of type” box is set to *.GHO. To resolve the problem, select “Scan for images” in the “Files of type” box. The Name/Size/Date box should now display all .GHO files on the CDR/RW.
If you started the computer with a CD-ROM Boot Disk that you created in Ghost Boot Wizard, replacing the file Mscdex.exe on the floppy disk with the same file from the Windows\System folder might resolve the problem.
Updating the firmware for the CDR/RW drive might also resolve the problem.
In some cases, you may see the files when you start the computer from a Windows 98 Start Disk and run Ghost.exe or Ghostpe.exe from a Ghost bootable floppy disk.
